Joyce Evelyn Rowland Whitman, 92, of Selmer passed away Oct. 12, 2020 at Lakewood Health & Rehabilitation in North Little Rock, Ark.
Private family services were 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Cave Springs Cemetery with Bro. Anthony Rowland and Bro. Skippy Rowland officiating.
She was born Jan. 21, 1928 in the Palestine Community of Chester County, the daughter of the late Thomas Newton and Annie Ethel Allison Rowland.
She attended school at Woodville. She married Onsby Dewayne Whitman in 1946. They made their home in Memphis for 13 years and had lived in Selmer most of their married life. While living in Selmer, she worked at Brown Shoe Company, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Selmer.
She is survived by her son, Terry (Kate) Whitman of North Little Rock, Ark.; two grandchildren, Asa Whitman and Isaac Tucker; and a sister, Reba Jean Cupples of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewayne Whitman, March 8, 2008; five brothers, Curtis Rowland, Romas Rowland, Marvin Rowland, Burl Rowland and Drew Rowland; and three sisters, Clara Arnold, Nelda Ruth Talbert and Margaret Capps.
