Chester County Library Third Annual LEGO Creation Competition: Entries can be submitted between June 1 and June 30 at the library, and will be on display for the entire month of July. This year, we encourage entries to be animals or animal habitats (think jungle, underwater scene, coral reef, etc.). More information can be found on our website at chestercountylibrarytn.weebly.com
Chester County Library Second Annual Writing Competition: Entries must be submitted no later than July 7, 2021. Entries are divided by grades spanning from entering preschool through twelfth grade. Entries can be as short or long as you would like and can be typed up or handwritten. Illustrations are optional. The contest will be judged by the local Word Weavers group. 
Tuesday, June 1 at 10 a.m., Storytime: Zoo Animal Print Storytime – Join Mrs. Savannah on an adventure through the library identifying animal paw prints that can be found in the zoo!
Tuesday, June 8 at 10 a.m., Storytime: Ocean Storytime – Join Mrs. Savannah for an ocean themed storytime and will make ocean animal suncatchers.  
Wednesday, June 9 at 2 p.m., PBS presents Nature Cat! Come by the library for a fun storytime and the chance to meet Nature Cat from PBS!
Thursday, June 10 at 5 p.m., Teen Advisory Board: All teens are welcome to attend whether in public schools or homeschooled. The teen advisory board is a group of teens that participate in the library, enjoy reading, and work with the director to come up with teen programming ideas, suggestions for the teen collection, and more. There will be supplies to make origami animal bookmarks this night as well.
Tuesday, June 15 at 10 a.m., Storytime: Ranger Visit from Chickasaw State Park – Join us for storytime and a visit from rangers with Chickasaw State Park. They will be bringing a snake to show! Wednesday, June 16 at 10 a.m., Local Author Q&A with Brad and Kristi Montague: Local authors will host a discussion and Q&A regarding their most recent books. You can submit questions via the libraries website (chestercountylibrarytn.weebly.com) or by calling the library.
Tuesday, June 22 at 10 a.m., Storytime: Animal Yoga Storytime – Join Mrs. Savannah as she leads storytime and juvenile yoga with a fun animal theme.
Thursday, June 24 at 5:30 p.m., Family Wild Jeopardy Tournament: Join us for a Jeopardy tournament all about Wild Animals! Compete as a family for a chance to win a family movie snack pack with a redbox movie rental code! Limited space available – please register no later than June 23* Sign up at bit.ly/CCLJeopardy
Saturday, June 26 from 9 a.m. to noon, Field Trip to Pinson Mounds: Ranger Dedra will have a video about Pinson Mounds, take us on a tour of the museum, and lead us on a hike of the mounds!
Monday June 28 – Friday July 2 – Shelter Pet Fundraiser: We will be accepting donations of dog/cat food, cat litter, dog/cat beds, and dog/cat toys during this week. Donations will go to the Friends of the Henderson Animal Shelter and the Jackson Madison County Animal Care Center.
Tuesday, June 29 at 10 a.m., Storytime: Shelter Pet and
Working Dogs: Join us for a storytime about working dogs and shelter pets. For our craft, you can create a poster to advertise a pet that is in a local shelter.
The posters will be on display at the library for a couple of weeks! We hope this will help these pets find their “furever” homes. Wednesday, June 30 at 1 p.m., Visit with Mercee the Therapy Dog: Mercee the therapy dog will be at the library with her human, Michelle. Today you can learn what therapy dogs do and interact with her.
