The Oasis Community Corporation will hold the Juneteenth Community Celebration 6-10 p.m. Friday, June 14, and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at North Chester, 524 Luray Ave., in Henderson.
The weekend’s events will feature vendors, a movie, food, entertainment, local talent and more. A civic-minded activity, “Show Me Your Rights,” will provide an opportunity to exercise each person’s individual civil rights together with the community.
Juneteenth 2024 will begin on Friday evening with a viewing of black Wall Street and the presentation of how Juneteenth came about. This will be presented by Kingdom Buildings Outreach from Pinson on Saturday.
Saturday festivities will begin at 11 a.m. with presentations by Brother Danny Johnson followed by music entertainment. Special guests will be Bill Laazar, and the Springs Choir. Jeremiah Williams will be selling cheesecake jars during the event.
The community, and especially all community leaders, are invited to attend. All participants in the upcoming local elections will be given an opportunity to greet the crowd and ask for support, according to Pastor Marles Flowers.
For more information, Contact Pastor Marles Flowers at 608-2222 or Danny Johnson at 608-1670.
