
After a dominant regular season, the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions were awarded with various honors from the Mid-South Conference.
Sophie Dunavant was named the MSC Softball Player of the Year and Brittany Adair earned Pitcher of the Year honors.
Dunavant led the team with a .446 batting average and recorded a team-high 54 RBIs. She was second on the team with six home runs. The senior tied the team lead in extra base hits with 27. Dunavant’s 54 runs driven in are tied for the most in the conference and rank ninth in the NAIA while her batting average ranks fourth in the MSC.
In the circle, Adair appeared in 17 games posting a 13-0 record while recording two saves. In 94-1/3 innings of work she has allowed just 36 hits with an ERA of 0.96. Adair has struck out 167 batters and opponents are hitting just .115 against her this season. Nationally, she ranks second in strikeouts per game (12.4), seventh in batting average against, ninth in ERA and ninth in shutouts with seven.
Coach Todd Humphry and Assistant Coach Kaylyn Graham led the Lions to a 45-3 record and 28-3 record in the MSC to capture their first MSC title. They were awarded with the MSC Coach of the Year and Assistant Coach of the Year
The Lady Lions also had multiple players awarded to the All-Conference teams. Players named First Team All-Conference include: Sophie Dunavant, Anna Kate Norton, Kennedy Harris, Caitlin Mitchell, Brittany Adair, Chloe Winters, and Morgan Crawford.
Norton batted .342 on the year with 5 homeruns. She also drove in 39.
Harris was second on the team in batting average with an average of .405. Harris also finished with the team lead in stolen bases (33), homeruns (11), and second in RBIs (41)
Mitchell batted .357 with 5 homeruns and 30 RBIs from the DP spot.
Winters finished the season with the lowest ERA in the conference and third lowest in the nation (0.85). She also led the Lady Lions in innings pitched (106-?) and wins (15)
Crawford finished the season with a 12-0 record in the circle. She had an ERA of only 1.41.
Players named to Second Team All-Conference include: Cassie Hayes and Catherine Crabb
Allie Mitchell picked up Honorable Mention All-Conference Honors.
The conference also announced their Gold Glove team. Lady Lions on this team include: Sophie Dunavant, Allie Mitchell, and Anna Kate Norton
The Lady Lions also had 13 players take home Academic All-Conference honors. These players include: Emily Bradford, Gracie Cooley, Catherine Crabb, Morgan Crawford, Sophie Dunavant, Kennedy Harris, Annalise Jarnagin, Brittan Jarrell, Allie Mitchell, Caitlin Mitchell, Destyni Strain, and Chloe Winters.
The Lady Lions received the bye straight to the final site of the MSC tournament. They will be back in action in Bowling Green on May 6 at 11:00 a.m.
