LARRY WOODY Obituary – Aug. 6, 1937 – Feb. 6, 2020

Bonnie Larry Woody, 82, of Pinson passed away Feb. 6, 2020 at his home. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Larry Kirk officiating. Burial followed at Henderson City Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from noon until service time on Sunday.
He was born Aug. 6, 1937 at Mifflin in Chester County, the son of the late Bonnie Farris and Flossie Mae Adcock Woody. He graduated from Chester County High School in 1956.
He married Marlene Plunk in 1957. He served in the United States Navy for two years and then the Naval Reserve for four years. He started working for the City of Henderson, September 1959 and worked over 30 years, retiring as Superintendent of the Water and Gas Department.  He served as a County Commissioner for 13 years, until he moved out of the district.
He was a member of the Meridian Baptist Church in Jackson. He was an avid sportsman, loving to fish and hunt.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Marlene Plunk Woody of Pinson; a son, Douglas Larry Woody of Pinson; three daughters, Debbie (Garey) Cupples of Pinson, Angie (Joe) Hudson of Jackson and Cindy (Mark) Pica of Jackson; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joe Perry Woody and Melvin Woody; and a sister, Sue Waldrop.
