Dear Editor,
The article submitted by Dr. Elizabeth A. Saunders on the “African American’s Quest for Education in Chester County” in the February 9, 2023 edition of the newspaper is indeed excellent and informational. We sincerely appreciate her historical research in keeping the memories alive regarding the local and national contributions of African Americans, in general, and Chester Countian’s specifically, regarding our quest for knowledge and worldwide contributions to the betterment of mankind.
One respectful correction to the February 9, 2023 article is needed. In reference to the lighting contract to the softball field to the then Chester County Training School, the contract was awarded to D. J. Robertson Electrical Company (a 1956 alumnus of the school) vs. D. J. Robinson Electrical Company as listed in the article.
On behalf of all the attendees of the rural African American schools and graduates of Chester County Training and Vincent High School, we profoundly appreciate Dr. Saunders’ excellent historical research.
Sincerely,
Paul E. Robertson
Attorney at Law
