After the first two rounds of the Mobile (Ala.) University Spring Invitational the Freed-Hardeman University Lions finished in seventh place out of the nine competing teams. In two rounds at the Robert Trent Jones at Magnolia Grove’s Crossings course, FHU shot 615 (+39).
The Lions were led by Ben Sebilian’s two-round 148 (+4). In the first round, Sebilian finished one under par with 71 (-1) with four birdies. In the second round, he collected one birdie while finishing with 12 pars to finish with a 77 (+5). Sebilian finished his first day in a tie for 9th place with 148 (+4).
Tyler Rhodes finished the first two rounds in a tie for 13th place with 151 (+7). In the first round, Rhodes had a 74 (+2) where he dropped birdies on the par-4 third and ninth holes before sinking a birdie in the second round on the par-5 fifth hole to collect a 77 (+5). The highlight of Rhodes’ day came on his final hole of the opening round when he scored an eagle on the par-5 sixth hole.
With a share of 29th place, EJ Hill had a pair of birdies in his first round where he finished at 80 (+6). Hill took three strokes off of his total to tally a 77 (+5) in the second round to combine for 157 (+13).
After finishing the first round with an 80 (+8), Gabe Matherley began his second round on the ninth hole where he earned a birdie before sinking a second on the par-5 16th hole. After finishing the second round at 82 (+10), Matherley landed in a tie for 41st place by shooting 162 (+18).
Cash Piatt rounded off the Lion golfers in a tie for 43rd place with 163 (+19) where he had a pair of birdies in the first round to score 84 (+12). Piatt took five strokes off in his second round where he had a birdie on the par-4 fifth hole to finish with 79 (+7).
