On Friday, Oct. 18, officers with the Savannah Police Department were notified by Hardin County Animal Services of possible animal bones found by a crew working inside a home at 205 Pleasant St., in Savannah. Officers collected the bones, and suspecting they were human remains, sent them to the Tennessee Medical Examiner’s Office for extermination. The Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the bones are human, and identification is pending. While the identity is not yet known, Investigators do not believe the remains are those of Jim Smith, who was reported missing from Savannah in February.
Leanne Peace was apprehended in Fulton, Ky., Monday, Oct. 28 during a routine traffic stop. This was following a release issued by SPD and TBI in which she was named a person of interest, sought for questioning in connection with the remains that were discovered last week.
If you have any information concerning this case, contact the Savannah Police Department at 731-925-9007 or the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND (1-800-824-3463) with keyword TIP followed by your information.
