LOIS ARMOUR Obituary – March 14, 1937– Oct. 23, 2022

Helen Lois Adams Armour left her earthly home on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Troy Kilzer II and Janeana Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Henderson City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue from noon-2 p.m. service time Friday. Pallbearers will be grandsons Tyler Knipper, Brian Knipper and Jacob Moore, great-grandson Coleton Knipper, and nephews Donnie Durrance and Phillip White.
She was born March 14, 1937, in Burbank, Calif., to parents George Maxey and Odris Zu Adams.
In 1954, she met and married Lionel Joe Armour, who was in the United States Air Force, in Amarillo, Texas. They made their home in Henderson where Mr. Armour was a Ranger and later Superintendent at Chickasaw State Park. She also worked at the park as a secretary beginning in the 1960s. She loved Chickasaw State Park and considered it her home, as the family lived there until Mr. Armour’s death in 1969. She retired from the park as a Clerk 2 in 2014.
She loved her family and looked forward to holidays when they were all together. She enjoyed watching movies and game shows, playing Yahtzee with her family and eating Little Debbie Cakes. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Henderson. She was extremely close to her husband’s family and considered them HER family.
She is survived by two brothers-in-law, Bobby Len (Doris) Armour and Bo Higginbottom; a sister-in-law, Doris Armour White; her daughters, Kakki (Darrell) Armour Bird, Janeane (Bob) Armour Moore and Monica Armour Meeks; grandchildren, Tyler Knipper, Brian Knipper, Jacob (Allison) Moore, Jordan (Jeremy) Moore Howard, Brock Meeks, Brianna Meeks and Amy Horton; great-grandchildren, Coleton Knipper, Rowan Knipper, Kayleigh Sikes, Nathan Howard, Rory Moore and Emmy Moore; several nephews and nieces; and her best friend and sister-in-law, Judy Butler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Armour; a daughter, Mickey Jo Armour, who died of SIDS in 1962; her parents, George and Odris Adams; a sister, Joanne Adams; two brothers, Ray Adams and Jim Butler; her in-laws, Pat and Robbie Duley Armour; two brothers-in-law, Tim Armour and Jimmy White; and a sister-in-law, Patty Armour Higginbottom.
