Loretta Jean Waselewski Pickett, 88, of Henderson passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020 at her home. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Johnny Bullman officiating. Burial followed in Sweetlips Cemetery. The family received friends at East Main from 5-8 p.m. on Friday.
She was born Dec. 4, 1931 in La Salle, Ill., the daughter of the late Victor Francis and Mary Agnes Pietiowski Waselewski. She grew up and attended school in La Salle.
She married Columbus Pickett Nov. 30, 1963. They owned and operated Loretta’s Restaurant in Rochelle, Ill., for six years. They then moved to the Sweetlips community (where Columbus grew up). While in Chester County she worked as a seamstress at Salant & Salant and then I APEL for 10 years retiring in 1993.
She enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing, doing crafts, refinishing old furniture and working in her flowers. She loved her grandchildren and her church. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Columbus Detroyce Pickett of Henderson; sons, Jeffery Allen (Robin) Pickett of Finger, Gary Lee (Pamela) Pickett of Henderson, William Terry Pickett of Henderson, and Mark Olsewski; daughters, Linda (Dannie) Pickett Taylor of Finger and Diane Olsewski Ziwicka; grandchildren, Krystal Ross, Dakota Taylor, Dustin Taylor, Darren Taylor, Allen Pickett, Brittany Pickett, Tanner Hathcock, Morgan Pickett, Duran Pickett, Nathan Pickett, Scotty Pickett, Gayla Pickett Woods and Abby Pickett; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Roy Wasilewski of LaSalle, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mike Olsewski; one grandson, Dennis Stephen Pickett; brothers, John Waselewski, Victor Thomas Waselewski and Jimmy Waselewski; and a sister Dorathy Waselewski Carlson.
