MAX MASSENGILL Obituary – Nov. 5, 1938 – April 23, 2022

Max Roy Massengill, 83, of Huron passed away suddenly at his home, Saturday April 23, 2022. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Scott Dunaway and Bro. Glenn Harris officiating. Burial followed in Unity Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday.
He was born Nov. 5, 1938 in Chester County, the son of the late Kenneth B. and Jewell Ruth Bishop Massengill. He served in the Navy for four years, stationed out of San Diego.
He was a member of Middlefork Road Baptist Church. He worked for Time DC Memphis and retired from Grinnell in 2004. He loved to fly small airplanes and enjoyed fishing and working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Gale McEarl Massengill; a son, Anthony Max (Wanda) Massengill of Jacks Creek; one daughter, Jennifer Gale Sanders of Huron; four grandchildren, Clark Massengill, Carrie Cox, Clay Massengill and McCayla Sanders; two sisters, Joy Ruth Leath of Finger and Nell Lois Branch of Jackson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant grandson, Aaron Sheldon Sanders; an infant great-grandchild, Levi Massengill; and a brother, James Ray Massengill.
