
Max Ray Pickett, 84, of Finger passed away Sept.15, 2023, at Hardin Medical Center Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Savannah.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Shackelford Funeral Directors Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. John Carter officiating.
Burial followed at Sweetlips Cemetery.
The family received friends at Crook Avenue from noon-2 p.m. service time Tuesday.
He was born in Chester County April 3, 1939, son of the late Willie T. and Clara Luttrell Pickett. He attended schools in McNairy County. As a young man, he worked as a farmer and at a sawmill. He then worked in Memphis for a time.
He married Alma Jean Cates on Sept. 24, 1960. They made their home in Memphis for a time before moving to Finger. He enjoyed restoring old tractors and talking on his CB radio. His handle was “Gold Finger.”
He is survived by his wife, Alma Jean Pickett; sons, Doug (Angie) Pickett of Adamsville and Mike (fiancée Kathy Stojanoric) Pickett of Bartlett; brothers, Detroyce Pickett, W.C. Pickett and Ralph Pickett all of Henderson and Terry Pickett of Beech Bluff; sisters, Lois Pickett and Martha Pickett, both of Beech Bluff; two grandchildren, Tanya (Jon) Wadkins and Jason (fiancée Anna Davis) Pickett; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Troy Pickett and David Bryce Pickett; and sisters, Mary Jo Bush, Dorothy Cicotte, and Wilma Morris.
