Mayoral win rings for Bell

Voters returned to the polls last week to vote on a number of elected positions in Henderson and Chester County. Voter turnout was low across the board.
Terry Bell claimed the mayoral win in Henderson Thursday evening with 463 votes to fellow candidate Mark Barber’s even 300, for a total of only 764 votes cast in the city’s mayoral race. See page 5-A for a personal note to local citizens from the incoming mayor.
For city alderman, incumbents Buel Snookum Maness, Michael A. Phelps and Jason Rhodes retain their seats.
Melinda Johnston continues as mayor of the city of Enville.
In Chester County, incumbent Beverly Morton retains her position as Assessor of Property with 1,308 votes to 836 for Bubba Edgin. Luke Weaver will fill the District Three County Commission vacancy.
Chester County School Board seats will be filled by incumbent Ben Cupples, District Three; Kim Scott, District Four; and incumbent Becky Hutcherson, District Five.
A total of 2,189 ballots were cast in the August election in Chester County, making a 19.61% turnout among all local registered voters. For more information on this upcoming elections, see the Chester County Election Commission website at https://votechestercountytn.gov
