James Michael (Mike) Spratlin, 63, affectionately known as “Spoon,” died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Lance Mosher officiating.
Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Thomas Martin, Christian Thompson, Billy Murchison, Darryl Cox, Tommy Colbert and Brandon Connor. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis.
He was born on Nov. 13, 1959, the son of the late James Robert Spratlin and Margie Ashmore Stanford.
He was well-known far and wide as he never met a stranger. Having worked in construction all his life, he made friends on every job.  Due to his strong work ethic and excellent carpentry skills, he never lacked for work. In fact, he sincerely loved working and never let anything get in the way of getting a job done right. Second to this love of working was his love for all things John Deere.  Nothing made him happier than attending tractor shows and displaying his tractors or riding them in a parade.
He is survived by his beloved family: wife, Donna Spratlin; son, Christopher (Christian) Spratlin of Bartlett; daughter, Jessica (Brandon) Thompson of Jackson; daughter, Vikki (Joe Gullett) McDaniel of Jackson; son, Lance (Kristen) Mosher of Meraux, La.; and grandchildren, Thomas Martin, Savannah Spratlin and Abby Spratlin of Bartlett, Christian Thompson and Gracie Thompson of Jackson and Silas Mosher and Asher Mosher of Meraux, La.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, James R. Spratlin, Sr. and Emma Gillion Spratlin and Vera Ashmore and John Thomas Ashmore.
