Mollie Bondurant Young, 70, died early Monday morning, May 1, 2023, at her home in Henderson. A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
She was born in Jacksonville, Fla., on Sept. 27, 1952, daughter of the late Willard E. and Sara Galbraith Smith. She grew up in Henderson and was a graduate of Chester County High School where she was a member of the Cheering Squad.
She also attended Freed-Hardeman College, took courses at Penn State University and then graduated from Lambuth University in Jackson with a degree in Social Work.
She married James Young in December of 1986, and they made their home in Henderson. Mr. Young preceded her in death in 2015.
She was a social worker for the State of Tennessee Department of Child Services until the birth of her first child. She then became a full-time wife and mother who adored her children and grandchildren.
She enjoyed reading books, playing card games, animals (especially dogs), and leaves behind her beloved dog “Sophie.” One of her favorite pets was a goat, “GW.” She was a joyful soul who loved to laugh heartily. She was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
