Nancy Carolyn Archer, 80, of Lexington and Henderson, died on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022, at the Briarwood Community Living Center in Lexington after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Visitation for family and friends were held at Shackleford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel in Henderson beginning at noon with funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel. Burial followed at Refuge Cemetery in Bethel Springs. Memorial gifts may be made to Refuge Cemetery Fund, 3426 Refuge Road, Bethel Springs, TN 38315. The family wishes to thank the compassionate care givers at Briarwood Community Living Center for their many years of loving care to her.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1941, the daughter of the late Jess M. Archer and Grace Weaver Archer. She worked at Salant & Salant Inc. in Henderson and AutoZone Distribution in Lexington. She was a lifelong member of Estes Church of Christ in Henderson and more recently Broad Street Church of Christ in Lexington.
She was an avid fisherman who loved to take her mother and her mother’s friends fishing. She also loved to travel and took many trips out west with family and friends. In her later years, she retired and lived with her sister and beloved puppy, Sophie Louise.
She is survived by nieces, Holly (Brad) Dodson Speight of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., and Leslie (Jeff) Dodson Hunt of Henderson; great-nieces, Grace Paschall of Philadelphia, Pa., Brooke (Tyler) Hunt Welch of Henderson, Beth (John Mark) Hunt Powell of Alamo and Elise Cherry of Memphis; and great-nephew, Andrew Hunt of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ernest Archer; sisters, Louise Cherry, Dorothy Dodson and Kaky Archer; beloved niece, Camise Strunk; and beloved nephews, Bob Cherry and Joe Cherry.
