NANCY KINCHEN – June 1, 1947 – Aug. 20, 2023

Nancy Catherine (Connor) Kinchen, 76, passed away Aug. 20, 2023, at AHC Nursing Home in Selmer.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Wendell Owens, Sammy Patrick and Johnny Bullman officiating. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
The family received friends at East Main from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
She was born June 1, 1947, in Henderson, daughter of the late Jackson and Linnie Connor. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1965. She worked at Scotts Hill Garment Factory, was head of North Chester cafeteria for 10 years and worked at Millers Big Star for 32 years.
She and Neil were married 59 years and four months. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wonderful friend and neighbor.
She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church for 58 years and served as secretary and treasurer.
She was a good cook and collected cookbooks. She liked to work word search and crossword puzzle books and loved flowers and watching hummingbirds.
She also accompanied her husband and the Jabz group who went to Eastern Kentucky and West Virginia to provide food and clothing, repair houses and build new ones and deliver the word of God. While the men worked, she, Loretta Haggard and the ladies were busy preparing meals to keep those hard workers moving. She will be greatly missed and was so loved.
She is survived by her husband, Alton Neal Kinchen; two sons, Alton Wayne (Sandy) Kinchen of Virginia and Jerry Neal (Amy) Kinchen of Henderson; three grandchildren, Kendyl Skye (Adam) McGee, Miranda Shea Kinchen and Ethan Neal Kinchen; great-grandchild, Maisy Raine McGee; one sister, Linda (Connor) Young; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jackson and Linnie Connor; a brother, Ralph Connor, and one sister, Mary Cofield.
