As the year progresses, we continue to see signs of the end of the year for this fantastic senior class. Friday night’s games against Lexington marked one of these moments, as the senior basketball players, managers, and cheerleaders were honored on their senior night. Nine basketball players, one manager, and five cheerleaders were brought onto the court to commend them for their dedication to the Chester County basketball program.
Before the games, the senior class hosted a pep rally to celebrate senior night and bring in the postseason. Students participated in relays, dunk contests, dance-offs, and more competitions. This event encouraged everyone to attend the game later that night and the students did not disappoint.
From the tip-off, the stands were packed on both sides of the gym to watch this rivalry game. The Eaglettes easily defeated the Tigers, focusing heavily on their defense. This was aided by Jariyah Williamson and Brooke Ketchum, who totaled 50 points by themselves. However, The Eagles’ game was not easy, and eventually the boys would fall in a tough loss. These results meant that the Eaglettes would go into the district tournament as the one seed, and the Eagles would be the two seed. Both teams will get first-round byes to start and face off against their opponents in the semi-finals and, hopefully, championship games this week. It appears that both teams have excellent chances at reaching the regional tournaments and possibly the state tournament, as both have had very high standings in the state rankings in the past few weeks! We are excited to see how the end of this season will pan out, and we are very proud of the seniors who have put in the work over the years!
