It has been an exciting week for Chester County! The Eagles and Eaglettes both played tremendously against Fayette Academy on Thursday. The boys defeated the Vikings 73-51, and the girls dominated with a final score of 46-8. These wins excited Chester County fans for the games the following day at Crockett County, which was evident within the packed stands on Friday Night.
Coming into the game, the Eaglettes knew little about Crockett County, except that they had dominated every team they had played thus far, including district rival McNairy County. This was a worrisome outlook for the team, but they came in with a great mindset and ready to play. Going into halftime, the girls were only down by a few points because of great defense and some key shots. A 5-0 run put them ahead, and the score swung back and forth until the fourth quarter when the game became tied with 13 seconds left. Unfortunately, Crockett County finished with the win 48-46 after a foul on a layup and two made free throws.
Though this was a loss on the scorebooks, the Eaglettes showed they are an extremely high-level team coming into this season and continuously improving. We are excited to see how the rest of the season pans out for them!
The Eagles continued their win streak by winning 76-54. This puts them at 4-0 on the season, giving Chester County fans flashbacks of the fantastic season they had last year. Will this be a repeat of last year? Will the girls be able to follow in the boys’ footsteps? We will be able to tell more after Christmas when district play begins, so keep up with your Chester County Eagles and Eaglettes to see.
