Hello from East Chester! We were so excited about our Patriotic Program on Tuesday, Feb. 18. We were joined by Casey Jones, Davy Crockett, Elvis, and other famous Tennesseans. We also held the Relay for Life Baked Potato/Salad Bar Supper before the program.
East Chester also has a Seuss-tastic Reading Challenge going on until the Parent Involvement night on March 10. Students are asked to complete at least five of the activities in a row on the Seuss-tastic sheet. Students that complete all the activities on the sheet will receive a Dr. Seuss bookmark, a Dr. Seuss pencil with special eraser and a book of their choice.
PTO has their Spring fundraisers going here at East. You can support our school by purchasing trash bags or Rada cutlery.
Kindergarten was hard at work learning all about presidents and American symbols. They have been writing about the White House, George Washington, the American Flag and Abraham Lincoln. Kindergarten celebrated Valentine’s Day with fun learning centers and passed out Valentines to their friends.
First graders started a study on the history of Tennessee and learned about the Tennessee flag and symbols. First graders enjoyed making Valentine’s cards for the Chester County Nursing Home and Southern Oaks. Ms. Leah’s class has started taking AR tests for students who are reading chapter books independently.
Second graders learned about money! It would be wonderful if the kids worked on sorting and counting at home as well as making change! Students learned about the Trail of Tears and the Cherokee Indians. Second graders were very excited to learn that part of the Trail of Tears is close to us at Shiloh! Mrs. Becky is happy to announce that her class has already read five million words this school year!
Third graders learned all about measurement, fractions, and nouns.
