What a wonderful week we had at East Chester. We continued to take a tour of the world by visiting different classrooms and learning about different countries. The students are really enjoying their trips to these countries. Mrs. Sandy’s class visited China with third grade teacher Mrs. Dee and visited Belize with Kindergarten Readiness teacher Mrs. Michelle. They took an online tour of the Smithsonian National Zoo and got to watch a live feed of the pandas. They checked on them all throughout the week.
Second graders continued to review the skills they have learned throughout the year. They enjoyed celebrating National Pie Day on Thursday with some fun activities and, of course, by eating apple pie! Mrs. Leah’s class worked on their cursive handwriting.
The first graders enjoyed learning about other countries from the second grade teachers! Mrs. Melissa’s class learned about the country of Peru and a few Spanish words and enjoyed making a panpipe instrument. Also, first graders worked to add and subtract within 100! They continued to work towards being more fluent readers and writers! They are looking forward to the end of the school year and becoming second graders!
Our third graders continued to work hard and had some fun special days as well. They enjoyed Sports Day, Art Day and Beach Day. They also took their last iReady benchmark for the year.
On Thursday, May 13, our school got to watch the Chester County seniors walk the grounds of East Chester one last time. We are so happy for our seniors and wish them the best. That same day, our Kindergarten students graduated. It was a big day for them! We have a great group of Kindergarten teachers and students, and we are proud of their work this year. We want to say a big thank you to the Highschool Drama Club and especially Tyler Timby and Jackson Knoell for their help in setting up the lighting and sound for our Kindergarten graduation and for helping it run smoothly. Then, on Friday, the school was buzzing with excitement over the Fun Run! The students had waited anxiously all week for the big day to arrive, and the weather was perfect for having our run outside! It was one of the things they love the most. Each class got to run to music for 30 minutes, got sprayed with water and had snacks provided by PTO and the school! We had more than 40 sponsors for our Fun Run. You will see the names of the $100 sponsors on the back of your child’s Fun Run shirt. We at East Chester appreciate their support so very much.
We have another great week ahead. Lots of learning will continue to take place along with some fun activities. The kids are really looking forward to Field Day on Friday, May 21! I know our P.E. teachers Coach Matt and Coach Chad have worked hard to make it a great day for our students. The last full day of school is Wednesday, May 26. Students will pick report cards up on May 28. East Chester is a great place to be!
