We are wrapping up this 2021-22 school year. It has been such a joy to watch these little learners learn and grow throughout the last 180 days. This year has been filled with wonderful memories that we all will cherish for a lifetime. As our third graders prepare to leave East Chester for Chester County Middle School, we hope they always remember they have an entire school that loves them, believes in them and will forever be there cheering for them!
Congratulations to Briella Gott who has reached ONE MILLION words in Accelerated Reader! She is a second grader in Mrs. Sandy Thompson’s class. Briella is the daughter of Jared and Sasha Gott. We are so proud of her!
This week our students have been busy with a variety of activities. We finished up our World Tour on Thursday. We traveled around the world to explore different places. First grade teachers came to third grade classrooms to tell the students about Mexico, Spain, Egypt, Australia, Canada and Chile. Second grade teachers visited first grade classrooms to tell about Ireland, Belize, Greece, Peru, Canada and Japan. Third grade teachers traveled to tell second graders about England, Brazil, Italy, New Orleans, China and France. It was a great learning experience for teachers and students alike! The students enjoyed fun days throughout the week. Kindergarteners enjoyed camping day, beach day, pirate/mermaid day, sports day, and dinosaur day. Our first graders had a great time with bubble day, popcorn day, watermelon day, lemonade day and pizza day. In second grade students had sea creature week leading up to Beach Day on Friday. Third graders spent their week enjoying beach day and puzzle day. Our third graders also participated in our annual Market Day. We use this day to teach about economics, marketing and budgeting as students experience creating, selling and buying goods. Students create their own product to sell (with fake money that is earned throughout the school year) to other third grade students. Market Day is always a highlight of their third grade year!
Just a couple of end of the year reminders for our readers. May 20 is the parent breakfast and awards program for our third graders. Parents are welcomed to attend the breakfast in the cafeteria and then the awards ceremony in the gym. May 20 is the last full day of school. Students do not come to school on May 23. Report cards can be picked up between 10-10:30 a.m. May 24. You may send an appropriately sized addressed and stamped envelope to school for us to mail report cards.
We have some important information about report card pick up on May 24 if you are planning to pick up the report card instead of having it mailed. Please read the following to see where to pick up the report card for each grade. Kindergarteners need to pick up report cards at the Pre-K pick up spot. First graders will pick up report cards at the front entrance. Second graders will pick up report cards at the door between the gym and cafeteria. Third graders will pick up report cards at the end door of the third grade hallway. Parents are asked to remain in their car while we bring the report card out to you!
East Chester wants to congratulate all Chester County High School graduates! We hope all of our graduates that sat in classrooms in East Chester as elementary students always remember that we love them and know they will do great things!
We, at East Chester, want to wish everyone a happy and safe summer break!
