We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break. The first three days back from break went very smoothly! We are excited about the plans we have for a great second semester of school at East Chester.
Here are the upcoming events for East Chester:

Here is what happening in kindergarten! They are working on a consonant blends unit like sn, sm, pl, fl, etc. In math they are working on teen numbers. They will be focusing on breaking teens down into 10s and some ones. They are also going to continue to work on addition fluency as well. In science they are going to be learning about the three states of matter: solids, liquids and gases. They are also continuing to work on writing sentences correctly.
In first grade they are working on informative writing. They will be discussing its purpose and applying that to their writing. In reading I/E they are starting a unit on light and sound. They will briefly discuss the scientific method and talking about the states of matter. In reading they will be starting their first realistic fiction reader, “The Green Fern Zoo.” They will be reviewing and applying contractions. They are also reading, “The History of the Earth.” In math they are starting a unit on adding multiples of 10.
In second grade, they are going to begin a new reader “Job Hunt.” They will be working on different skills within the different groups. They are also going to be starting a unit on the War of 1812. In science they are going to be exploring force, motion and energy and its effects on everyday life.
Third graders are working on identifying patterns in multiplication and addition tables. In reading they are finishing up unit 2 this week and getting ready for their end of unit assessment.
Have a great week.
