We had a fantastic week here at Jacks Creek Elementary School! Read on to find out what exciting things we have learned about this week!
It was a great week in Kindergarten. We began our CKLA reading program this week, learned about the color word blue, learned nursery rhymes and oval shape and practiced counting without skipping any numbers. Do not forget to please check folders each night for important information and homework being sent home. Please send a snack for your child each day and label any lunch or ice cream money with your child’s name and what the money is for.
In first grade we experienced some amazing learning as we continued to settle in. We wrote about our summer vacation as well as what is super to us in first grade. We also studied fables. We reviewed numbers by practicing counting and writing to 120. We can not wait to see what else first grade has in store.
In second grade we worked on addition and subtraction – mixed. We can use extra practice at home with these skills, so be watching for homework in our folders. We will also be bringing home some pages which go along with our CKLA program that we will need to read aloud to you. Please check all homework and sign it all before it is returned the next day. We are getting settled in to a routine more now and are enjoying the friends we have in our classroom.
Our third graders dove into a lot of fun lessons, too! In reading, we read Classic Tales. Wind in the Willows is a classic tale that the students have really enjoyed! We began Aladdin this week. Students will identify the main characters and sequence (put in order) events in the story. In math we continued to strengthen our addition and subtraction skills.
Our Farmer of the Week goes to Jackson Graham, whose favorite books are books about super heroes and favorite food is pizza. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school! Our Staff Farmer of the Week goes to Christy Essary. Her favorite books are books by the author Lori Wick, and her favorite foods are chicken and Mexican food. We appreciate all that she does for our school as one of our secretaries.

The JCES PSO Officers for the 20-21 school year are Heather Verduzco, President, Sarah Clayton, Vice-President, Brooke Simon, Reporter and Candace Shumate, Treasurer. They are already planning and preparing information to share out with our JCES families.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic, our year looks a bit different. However, we want you all to have an opportunity to be a part of our JCES Parent Support Organization. Our annual PSO Membership Drive begins Tuesday, Sept. 8. Our goal is to raise $1,500 with 500 members! When we reach our goal, students will have a “Dress Like A Farmer” Day!
Canned Food Drive: Help others in our community by donating canned food items Sept. 21-25. Students can bring these items in their backpack.
