‘Tis the season to have a great week at Jacks Creek Elementary School! We really enjoyed the learning that has been happening as we “wrap” up the semester.
Kindergarten really enjoyed Christmas Craft Day! Thanks to all of the parents who came and enjoyed this activity with us. In ELA we continued to work on reading CVC words and started blends. In Math we counted to 100 by 1’s and 10’s. We also added and subtracted. The children did a great job singing at the Chester County Nursing home on Friday, Dec. 13. We hope that we brought a little Christmas joy to the residents. Have a Merry Christmas!!!
We had another great week in first grade! We are so excited about our Christmas party and school-wide Christmas performance that will take place on Dec. 20. Last week in first grade, we finished up our reading unit on outer space and began learning about the history of the earth and geology. We also finished up our math unit on place value and have begun reviewing for our report card test that is coming up next week.
In second grade we worked hard to prepare for the Christmas program.
We also finished our i-Ready test and showed how much we have learned the first half of the year. We hope to see everyone at the Christmas party and program on Friday.
Third grade has been rocking and rolling through December. We read fun Christmas stories that connect with our standards. Last week, we learned about the Grinch. We also read the Polar Express. Our third graders get excited every year because we get to have our big Polar Express party. In math, we continued to learn about area and strengthen our multiplication facts. Parents, be on the lookout for notes going home. We can not wait to see you all Friday for our school concert and class parties. We hope you all have a Merry Christmas and see you in January!
Our Farmer of the Week goes to Alli Smith, whose favorite books are history books and whose favorite food is a corndog. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school! Our Staff Farmer of the Week goes to Jennifer Smith! Her favorite books are the Harry Potter series, and her favorite food is pizza. We appreciate all that she does for our school as the Computer Lab teacher and one of our para professionals.
Please collect Box Tops! Each Box Top equals 10 cents for our school. This is an EASY way for us to earn money for JCES! Our goal is to raise $700. Everyone can help us reach this goal!
We will be having our annual Christmas Concert at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, in the gym. Students are encouraged to wear red, green or Christmas themed attire.
