It has been an amazing week here at Jacks Creek Elementary School. Read on to hear what exciting things we have done as we have sprung into April!
Kindergarten had a great week! Students completed i-Ready testing in reading and math. Some important skills students have worked on this week included reading words with blends and digraphs, writing sentences, counting to 100 by ones, fives and 10s, learning coins and their values and subtracting fluently. We are planning a field trip on April 29. More details were sent home with students. Thank you for your continued support of our school and classroom. No school on Friday, April 15, in observance of Good Friday.
First graders are working hard on learning about place value in math. They have continued their study of various types of habitats in their read-aloud time and have just tested over nouns and verbs. They are still working on their opinion writing of their favorite type of candy.
We are happy to report that we have finished our i-Ready Diagnostic Tests for the year! We have worked so hard this year to reach our growth goal. We are finishing up our second grade materials and will soon start preparing for TCAP. We are so excited to show how much we have improved and learned in second grade.
In third grade we are doing TCAP review to prepare for the next two weeks. In math we are starting data. Students will learn how to read a chart and use a key. In science we are learning about electricity and the electric grid. We will be taking our iReady Assessments this week. We hope that everyone has a “Hoppy” Easter!
Our Beekeeper of the Week goes to Jolissa Ortega, who says her favorite book is “Clifford” and her favorite food is pizza. We are proud to have this student shine brightly at our school! Our Staff Beekeeper of the Week goes to Melinda Carroll. Her favorite books are the classics, and her favorite food is Mexican food! We appreciate all that she does for our school as our Librarian!
