Ms. Nancy Davidson was chosen as Jacks Creek Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year. Ms. Nancy is a second-grade teacher and has been teaching for 32 years.

We enjoyed a great week of learning at Jack’s Creek Elementary School! Read on to hear what amazing things we accomplished this week!
Kindergarten had another great week! Students continued to work on reading words with blends, sight words, sentence writing, decomposing numbers into 10 and some ones and counting by ones and 10s. Students received their report cards on Thursday. Please continue to check your child’s folder each night for homework and news from the classroom and school.
In first grade we had a busy week! We continued learning about astronomy. We took our winter exact path diagnostic tests in reading, language arts and math. In skills we learned the sound oi as in coin, learned about past and present verbs, reviewed counting sounds in words and worked on our reading fluency. In math we continued learning about fact families and used addition to help us subtract.
In second grade we finished with testing for a bit. Whew! We were happy to have Monday off and are thankful to Martin Luther King, Jr. for his dedication and work to bring us to more peaceful interactions with other people. We are now in Domain 5 of CKLA learning about “The War of 1812.” This unit is very interesting as we learn much more about how our country got started and became a strong nation. Ask us about what we learned each day and you will be amazed at the details we remember! In math we practiced identifying and counting money! We think it would be a lot of fun to count some change at home for practice, especially since our teachers are only letting us count play money. Nevertheless, we are still loving school at JCES with our friends, teachers, staff, and Principal Buckley! Go Eagles!
In third grade we had fun learning about the Native Americans of the Southwest and Greater Mississippi River Areas. Students found the Indian mounds in Madison County to be pretty interesting. Report cards went home on Jan. 12 along with data from our Benchmark testing. Students worked hard finishing up their ExactPath Winter Assessments as well. We have been working hard since coming back from our Christmas break.
Our firststudent spotlight of the week goes to Chance Redmon, whose favorite food is pizza and favorite books are Dr. Seuss books. Our second student spotlight of the week goes to Amberlyn Buchanon, whose favorite food is chicken nuggets and favorite book is “Cat in the Hat.” We are proud to have these students shine brightly at our school!
Congratulations to JCES Teacher of the Year, Nancy Davidson! Nancy is one of our second-grade teachers and has been teaching for 32 years! Her favorite thing about teaching is having fun learning experiences with her kids and seeing their little light bulbs and personalities shine! We are so thankful to have her represent our school!
Our Dominos’ PSO Fundraiser began Jan. 17 and ends on Jan. 31. More details will be sent home. The grade level with the most sales gets to Pie the Principal in the face.
