Hello to everyone! As always it is good to be here with you another week, on a new month and new day. I count it a blessing. For this is the day our Lord and Savior has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Please forgive me for not having my column in last week. I just ran out of time, but to God be the Glory! I am here this week! To our teachers and children, I hope your first week of school is going well and that the rest of the year will be a blessed one. There is a mother who is so proud of her son. Aug. 2 was his first day of school as a third grader. He has two of the best teachers at East Chester – Ms. Diane Johnson is his classroom teacher, and his Math teacher is Ms. Dee Arnold. It is hard to believe that little DJ is going into the third grade! I know both of his parents will be there for him to encourage him and to let him know he can accomplish anything. Amie, you and Darrius are doing a great job! Thank you, Ms. Johnson and Ms. Arnold, for making sure DJ will be more than ready for the fourth grade!
The City of Henderson appreciates all of the staff within our educational structure who have helped our schools to be so successful. Thank you to our Principals, Teachers, SPED, Secretaries, Teacher Assistants, Grandmothers, Bus Drivers, Bus Maintenance, Cooks, Janitors and Other Faculty. To all of the new and returning staff from the Principal to the Janitor, the City would like to let you know how much we do appreciate you. Thank you for choosing this career to teach our children, feed them, drive them to/from school and clean up after them. It takes special people to do what you do.
Let us keep our children in prayer for the protection, safety, obedience, aptitude enhancement, cohesiveness of relationships between student to student, student to teacher, teacher to teacher and teacher to administrators, the increase of attendances by students and all workers within the educational structure. Remember the prayer does not stop there; we must continue to pray every day and thank the Lord for a great year.
The city would like to say happy 46 years of marriage to Mr. Jerry Wilson and Mrs. Shirley (Prather) Wilson. The traditional 46th wedding anniversary gemstone is pearls. Mr. Jerry, I know you knew that when you married Ms. Shirley 46 years ago you marred a precious jewel! So happy wedding anniversary to Mr. Jerry and Mrs. Shirley. They will celebrate on Aug. 8. Jerry and Shirley, congratulations! As I always say, remember to keep the honey in the moon! It just gets sweeter and sweeter as the years go by! We LOVE you.
Can you believe it has been a year since The Dollar Tree opened their doors on July 30, 2020? Congratulations on your one year anniversary! I personally can still say the cashier is still friendly, kind, helpful, clean and well-organized. I do not know about you, but when I go out to spend my hard earned money, these are some of the characteristics I look for at a business. So, Dollar Tree, keep up the great work. I know as long as I have a dollar in my pocket (plus tax) I can shop at the Dollar Tree. The City of Henderson still welcomes you in our home town.
The City of Henderson’s deepest condolences go out to Mrs. Mable Campbell’s family. I know how much she was loved by everyone who knew her! She was such a sweet woman and a loving person. Every time I saw Ms. Mable she always had that big pretty smile, and everyone who knew her will miss her very much. I am so glad we got to celebrate her 90th birthday. I can not even begin to express how my heart aches for you. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
The City of Henderson deepest condolences go out to the family of Mary Utley for the passing of their loved one. Ms. Mary was such a sweet woman, and everyone who knew her will miss her very much also. When she worked for Head Start as a Foster Grandparent, the children and staff loved her! We are praying for you. We will miss them all, and we are praying for the family. Our condolences go out to all of the families here in the City of Henderson that have lost a loved one that I do not know by name.
On the birthday list for this month: the city would like to wish Mr. Larry Kelly happy birthday on 8/11. Happy birthday to my nephew Mr. Cliff Brown on 8/18, my great-nephew Mr. Justin Barham on 8/12 (12 years old), Ms. Phyllis Massengill 8/13 on and Ms. Tapeka Wilson on 8/19. May the Lord bless you with many more to come.
Last thought for today – please wear your mask to protect you from me, and I will wear my mask to protect me from you, and that way we both are covered and safe. Please be smart and do the correct thing because too many people are dying from this disease!
On the prayer list this week: our Unite States of America! We need your prayers and the help from the Lord!
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
