Well, Monday morning was damp and dreary! We will probably have a lot of days like this. I know most of you heard about or was maybe involved with the straight line wind damage just east of us Saturday. Thankfully, it was mostly trees blown over, but I saw where Adamsville really got hit hard. Pray for the family of Ray Wood of Adamsville who was killed when he went outside to get a family pet. Pray for all the people that have damage to their homes and property. Get ready for cold weather later in the week.
Please remember the ones on our prayers list: Kristen Carlton Jones, Tim Landers, Brianna Landers, Gary Hyatt, Carolyn Brasfield, Jim Ruth, Eloise Murley, Samantha Mosier, Woodie Deming, Betty Quarles, Ms. June Davis, Johnny Roach and his son Johnny, Jr. Please remember to pray for our shut-ins and nursing home folks. Also, pray for our military, our law enforcement and first responders, and don’t forget the ones that have lost loved ones.
Our birthday folks this week are Nicole Evans and Elaine Enfinger on Nov. 1, my little brother Ron Deming on Nov. 3, and Selena Romero on Nov. 3, and Shirley Mainers and Cheyenne Evans on Nov. 5. Every day we live is a gift for us if we think so. Take advantage of living and enjoy every moment. Wish you a very happy birthday!
Our devotion this week comes from Max Lucado, “Grace For The Moment”…..Nothing…in the whole word will ever be able to separate us from the love of God. Romans 8:39. We want to know how long God’s love will endure…Not just on Easter Sunday when our shoes are shined and our hair is fixed…not when I’m peppy and positive and ready to tackle world hunger. Not then, I know how he feels about me then. I want to know how he feels about me when I snap at anything that moves, when my thoughts are gutter-level, when my tongue is sharp enough to slice a rock. How does he feel about me then?…Can anything separate us from the love Christ has for us? God answered our question before we asked it. So we’d see his answer, he lit the sky with a star. So we’d hear it, he filled the night with a choir; and so we’d believe it, he did what no man had ever dreamed. He became flesh and dwelt among us. He placed his hand on the shoulder of humanity and said, “You’re something special.”
Quote of the week: “If wrinkles must be written on our brow, let them not be written on our heart. The spirit should never grow old.” ? James Garfield
Our Deanburg memory this week is from my cousin Lillie (Margie back then) Melton. “I remember being in the little room, and my teacher Evelyn Roby was so nice to me. My brother was in the big room with Bess Tarpley, the other teacher, and at lunch time he would go down to the J.W. Johnson Store and get us something to eat. I also remember Ray Harris, the bus driver, bringing us to school. I remember Nancy, Elsie, Billie, Jean, Ann, Joanne, James, Joe and, of course, you, Carolyn. I have come back to visit over the years after my Brother James went to Chicago when I was young and came back to Deanburg and took our whole family up there. As they say, you can take the girl out of the country but not the country out of the girl. I have very special memories of Deanburg.” Thanks for reading and following my news each week. May God bless and keep you safe and healthy. Call me or email me with your Deanburg memories. I am enjoying them and hope you do too.
