Welcome to Deanburg! Monday was a beautiful day here, and I for one loved waking up to the sunshine. Just gets the day started well.
I am rushed to get this in this week. Woodie is in the hospital as of 3 a.m. Sunday. He used his Medic Alert to call for help. Then, they called me. It is a wonderful service. I am glad he finally listened to me and got one. Please pray that he will get over this soon, as he has so many other health problems. I have to be at West TN Bone and Joint. Say a little prayer for me that this will help. I am not able to do much right now around my house, and it is getting out of hand. Also, Orban is having health issues.
Please remember the ones on our prayer list: Kristen Carlton Jones (so happy for your good report), Tim Landers, Brianna Landers, Gary Hyatt, Carolyn Brasfield, Jim Ruth, Eloise Murley, Samantha Mosier, Woodie Deming, Betty Quarles, Ms. June Davis, Johnny Roach, his son, Johnny, Jr. and Joyce Stewart.
Remember to pray for our shut-ins and nursing home folks. Also, our military, our law enforcement and first responder, and do not forget the ones that have lost loved ones. Pray that the homeless will find shelter. I always think of them in the winter weather.
Birthdays this week are Shirley Reddinger on Nov. 23 and Nancy Weaver Snider on Nov. 26. I hope you both have a wonderful birthday and many more.
“While the spirit of neighborliness was important on the frontier because neighbors were so few, it is even more important now because our neighbors are so many.” – Claudia “Lady Bird” Johnson
“For I was hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. And the King shall answer and say unto them. Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” – Matthew 25:35-36, 40
Thanksgiving is next week. I hope you have plans with your family and friends to celebrate God’s many provisions for us. If you know of a family less fortunate, maybe you can do God’s work and provide for them also.
I want to share a delicious fudge recipe for the holidays – Toll House Famous Fudge. You will need one and a half cups of granulated sugar, two-thirds cup (five fl. ozs. can) evaporated milk, two tablespoon butter or margarine, one-fourth teaspoon, salt, two cups miniature marshmallows, one and a half cups (9 oz.) Nestle Toll House semi-sweet chocolate morsels, one-half cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional) and one teaspoon vanilla extract.
Line an eight inch square baking pan with foil. Combine sugar, evaporated milk, butter and salt in medium, heavy-duty saucepan. Bring to a full rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil, stirring constantly, for four-five minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in marshmallows, morsels, nuts and vanilla extract. Stir vigorously for one minute or until marshmallows are melted. Pore into prepared baking pan; refrigerate for two hours or until firm. Lift from pan; remove foil. Cut into 48 pieces. Enjoy!
May God bless you and your family and keep you all well and happy!
I would still like to have some Deanburg memories from all of you that have lived in Deanburg and gone to school here.
