Monday was such a wet, dreary day. I hope we have sunshine the rest of the week.
These community neighbors and friends need our prayers: Kristen Carlton Jones, Tim Landers, Brianna Landers, Gary Hyatt, Carolyn Brasfield, Jim Ruth, Eloise Murley, Samantha Mosier, Woodie Deming, Betty Quarles, Ms. June Davis, Johnny Roach and his son Johnny, Jr. This time of the year always brings out the best in people. I wish it could be Christmas every day. Please reach out to our shut-ins and nursing home folks. Also, remember our military, our law enforcement and first responders, and do not forget the ones that have lost loved ones. Galatlians 6:2 – “Carry each other’s burdens and in this way will fulfill the law of Christ.”
If you see these folks this week, wish them a Happy Birthday. Ricky Quarles is celebrating on Dec. 12 and Kaitlyn and Hunter Ross on Dec. 16, and happy birthday to our dear Nella Rush in Heaven this year. We sure miss you but know you are happy and free of pain and suffering. To the family, I hope you have a merry Christmas because I know she would want you to. God Bless all of our folks that have lost loved ones and are having a hard time without them.
I recently read a blog post called “Found in a Book” by Catherine Pulsifer. The author included a poem that I think many of you will enjoy. You can read the full blog post at http://www.purethoughts.net/found-in-a-book-by-catherine-pulsifer.
“When I Whine” by Red Foley – “Today upon a bus, I saw/A lovely maid with golden hair; I envied her – she seemed so gay/And oh, I wished I were so fair/When suddenly she rose to leave/I saw her hobble down the aisle/She had one foot and wore a crutch/But as she passed, a smile/Oh, God, forgive me when I whine/I have two feet – the world is mine/And when I stopped to buy some sweets/The lad who served me had such charm/He seemed to radiate good cheer/His manner was so kind and warm/I said, “It’s nice to deal with you/Such courtesy I seldom find.”/He turned and said, “Oh, thank you, sir!”/And I saw that he was blind/Oh, God, forgive me when I whine/I have two eyes – the world is mine/Then, when walking down the street/I saw a child with eyes of blue/He stood and watched the others play/It seemed he knew not what to do/I stopped a moment, then I said/”Why don’t you join the others, dear?”/He looked ahead without a word/And then I knew; He could not hear/Oh, God, forgive me when I whine/I have two ears – the world is mine/With feet to take me where I’d go/With eyes to see the sunset’s glow/With ears to hear what I should know/I’m blessed indeed, The world is mine/Oh, God, forgive me when I whine.”
I loved Red Foley! I know I am old, but I know some of you do to. If you remember him, you might remember Pat Boone – handsome and soft spoken guy, and he sang so beautifully. He married Red Foley’s daughter.
I hope everyone is being safe out shopping. It is dangerous this time of the year, which is sad.
Call with any news you would like to share. God bless each of you!
