I hope it has been a great week for you despite the hot weather. The index was supposed to be 114 on Tuesday. All of you who are working outside, please be careful. Get a lot of rest, wear protective gear and drink a lot of water. Cokes and coffee will dehydrate you. I think about all of you who have jobs outside in terrible weather conditions. I pray you will be safe.

Prayers are appreciated for Kristen Carlton Jones, Tim Landers, Brianna Landers, Gary Hyatt, Carolyn Brasfield, Jim Ruth, Charles and Eloise Murley, Samantha Mosier, Woodie Deming and Ms. June Davis. Please remember to pray for our shut-ins and nursing home residents and visit them when you can. Please remember our military, our law enforcement and first responder and don’t forget the ones that have lost loved ones. Things (or people) are so crazy that none of our police officers are safe. I was so glad to see the Henderson force had training on school shooter situations.

Wishing happy birthday to Kenny Mays on Aug. 16, Phillip Mays on Aug. 17, Richard Mainers and Peyton Rowland on Aug. 18, Woodie Deming on Aug. 19, our cousin James Melton in Heaven now (you sure are missed), another sweet cousin Dorothy Bratcher (Dot to us), and another sweet cousin Kim Knipper Ross. Hope all of you have the best birthday ever!

Wishing Norma and Bobby Tully a very happy anniversary on Aug. 20! Hope you have many more wonderful times together.

Our devotion for this week: TO SEE THE UNSEEN: He gives strength to those who are tired and more power to those who are weak. Isaiah 40:29 An example of faith was found on the wall of a concentration camp. On it a prisoner had carved the words: I believe in the sun, even though it doesn’t shine, I believe in love, even when it isn’t shown, I believe in God, even when He doesn’t speak. I try to imagine the person who etched those words. I try to envision his skeletal hand gripping the broken glass or stone that cut into the wall. I try to imagine his eyes squinting through the darkness as he carved each letter. What hand could have cut such a conviction? What eyes could have seen good in such a horror? There is only one answer: Eyes that chose to see the unseen. He still moves stones. From “Grace for the Moment” by Max Lucado.

I have read probably 10 of the Holocaust. Read one and just couldn’t stop. Wanted to hear their stories which were horrific to say the least. Some now are saying that it didn’t even happened. What a fool to believe that!

I hope that you all stay cool, well, and happy this next week. God blessings upon you! 731-879-9777.
