Hello from Enville! I hope you all had a very good week. We finally got some much needed rain yesterday, and it cooled down nicely afterwards. It was so nice sitting out this morning (Monday) drinking our coffee and watching the hummingbirds. It is going to be nice all week! I hope everyone has a great and safe July 4th holiday weekend. Independence Day has been a federal holiday in the U.S. since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence, a historic document drafted by Thomas Jefferson. From 1776 to the present day, July 4 has been celebrated as the birth of American Independence. (History.com editors). There are many festivities with fireworks being a favorite along with parades, family gatherings and barbeques. The Tennessee River will be full of boats, sea doos and tubers. I hope you can spend it with family and have a fun and safe weekend!
The children of Shirley Hampton gave her a very nice 80th birthday celebration Sunday. I am sorry we did not make it, but we saw lots of great pictures. Happy Birthday Shirley and wish you many more!
Mark your calendars for Aug. 27; there will be something going on in our Enville town!
I hear Mike Timmer and crew will be cooking the Fourth of July weekend (July 2-4) for pickup only. They will be serving pulled and sliced pork (sandwich or by the pound), half chickens, barbecue bologna, polish sausage with sauerkraut or peppers and onions. Plates will be available and will include two sides and a drink; to preorder or for more information, call Mike at 608-3611, Debbie at 608-7027 or Connie at 412-7259. This will be happening in downtown Enville. We are hoping their new restaurant, Maggie’s, will open soon!
Happy birthday wishes go to Jeff Finley on July 4, Mike Pugh on July 5 and Nish Herndon on July 6.
Happy anniversary to Harold and Frankie Finley on July 2, Thomas and Pattie Gilham and Zachary and Carrie Thomas on July 3 and Joey and Rebecca Ashbrook on July 7. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
