Hello from Enville! I hope you all are having a wonderful week! The temperatures for the first part of this week were nice with sunshine, but the rain came and cooled the temps off somewhat just in time for the weekend. I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day with your loved ones, having dinner, enjoying that box of chocolates or strawberries and showing someone you love them!
Monday, Feb. 20, is Presidents’ Day. This holiday is to celebrate the birthdays of both President George Washington and President Abraham Lincoln. It is a federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February. Many banks, post offices, schools and other federal offices are closed. So, if you have the day off work, enjoy it! Presidents’ Day does not ever fall on the actual birthday of any American president, per history.com.
Ash Wednesday is Feb. 22. In many Christian churches, Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, a season of fasting and prayer. Ash Wednesday takes place 46 days before Easter Sunday and is a preparation for Christ’s Resurrection. Some churches have an Ash Wednesday service.
We want to congratulate our Enville students on their accomplishments in education. Brielle Dennis-Grant was named on the Mississippi State University’s President’s List for the 2022 fall semester. To receive this honor, a student must achieve a 3.80 or better grade point average, based on a 4.0 scale, while completing at least 12 semester hours of course work. Brielle received our Enville Community Club scholarship last year. Also, Jonathan Timmer was named to the FHU Dean’s List for the 2022 fall semester. He is earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. A student must earn a minimum 3.4 grade point average for the semester. Congratulations to both of you for your accomplishments and hard work!
Mark your calendars for March 4. The Enville Volunteer Fire Department will have a fundraiser. I will have more details later!
Happy birthday wishes go to Randi Baxter on Feb. 17, Tony Murphy on Feb. 18, Jackie Hutcherson and Lynn Canaday on Feb. 20 and Harry Timmer on Feb. 22. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Continue prayers for Lisa Bishop, Tera O’Neal, Harold and Janice Maness, Nicole Thompson, Agnes Smith, Mary Lee Guyon, Janice and Danny Keen, Florence Stublaski, Ashley Pugh, Shirley Hampton, Della Mixon, Rick Ooley, Mike Pugh, Charlie Kent, Robert and Linda Johnson, Tim Harris, Tim and Tabitha Hampton, Amanda Johnson, James Vinson, Loretta Plunk, Ann Pugh, Emily Freeman, Kathy Emerson, Joann Fowler, Dot Smith, Jimmy Robertson, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military, schools and school board, those who have lost loved ones and, as always, each other.
If you have news or someone to add to prayer list, call me at 608-3058, or if you want to rent the community center, call Pat at 688-5125.
Have a blessed week everyone!
