Hello from Enville! I hope you all are having a great week. The weather is just right for me, and I hope it is for you all. We are having a few more hummingbirds, and I put up two more feeders on Monday hoping to attract more. May just started, and it is already nearing the end.
Monday, May 29, is Memorial Day; originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many people observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, having family gatherings and participating in parades. Memorial Day began as a way to honor those who died in the Civil War but has become a day to honor all American veterans who gave their lives in sacrifice to our nation. The Memorial Day weekend kicks off the first holiday of the summer. I know the rivers, lakes, campgrounds, backyards and pools will be busy on this weekend. I hope you will be safe and have fun.
School is out, and many will be vacationing soon; enjoy your summer, kiddos! Danny and I spent last week in Gatlinburg. The mountains are always inviting and breathtaking. We love sitting on our balcony, drinking our morning coffee and taking it all in. The weather was gorgeous every day, but we did not see a bear this time. We got a lot of R&R, which was much needed. We will go back in the fall to enjoy the beauty of the changing leaves! On Sunday afternoon, after returning from the mountains, our daughters surprised me with a birthday party, which Danny knew about, but to his surprise, it was for him also. He turned 65 in November, and my birthday was on May 24. They wanted to wait until we both were 65 to celebrate! It was very nice. We celebrated with several friends and family; the food was delicious and the decorations were awesome. Thanks, Nicole and April, we love you!
Enville sends out Happy Birthday wishes to Kevin Maness on May 26 and Pat Weatherington on May 31. Happy Anniversary to Josh and Audrey Trammell on May 27. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Please pray for Lisa Bishop, Agnes and Robert Smith, Mary Lee Guyon, Janice and Danny Keen, Robert and Linda Johnson, Tera O’Neal, Harold and Janice Maness, Nicole Thompson, Emily Freeman, Ashley Pugh, Ann Pugh, Shirley Hampton, Tim and Tabitha Hampton, Loretta Plunk, Rick Ooley, Mike Pugh, Tim Harris, Jimmy Robertson, Kathy Emerson, Joann Fowler, Dot Smith, those who have lost loved, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military and, as always, each other.
