Hello from Enville. I hope everyone had a great week. We enjoyed the warmer temperatures and sunshine on Sunday. April, Kelley and Reece took us to eat at the Cowboy Steak House in Decaturville for our anniversary. We rode around all afternoon, watching folks cleaning at their campsites after the floods. We have not started yet!
I hope everyone is adjusting to Daylight Savings Time. I love it because it stays daylight longer in the afternoon. As the days get longer, we can get a lot more done around the house outside. St. Patrick’s Day is on March 17. Saint Patrick’s Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick, is a cultural and religious celebration held on the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland. The symbol is a shamrock. Blue was the color traditionally associated with St. Patrick. Green is now commonly connected with the day. Irish and non-Irish alike commonly participate in the “wearing of the green.” Since 1962 Chicago has colored its river green to mark the holiday. Do not forget to wear your green so you will not get pinched.
Spring is in the air. It begins next week on March 19, so I need to get ready for Spring cleaning by opening windows and letting the house air out and sunshine in after a long winter.
The Enville United Methodist Church had a soup, sandwich and dessert meal beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, March 11, followed by a singing at 6:30 p.m., featuring Guy Wright and Nita Middleton. This was a free event, and everyone was invited!
A Community Singing Event will be at 6 p.m. March 14 at Old Path Baptist Church, 4880 Hwy. 22 South, Enville. There will be special youth performances with singing by The Ross Family and Hearts of Praise. Everyone is invited to come listen, sing, praise and fellowship.
Please remember the Dennis family in your prayers. Also Jean Crowell, Linda Phillips, Agnes Smith, Mary Lee Guyon, Niecie Pearson, Florence Stublaski, Doris Weeks, Jack and Tera O’Neal, Harold and Janice Maness, Christy Phillips, Jo Marie Holmes, Dennis Harwell, Deb Finley, Casey Pratt, Ann Vanhoose, Tim Harris, Steve Denbow, Neal Brewer, Roger and Sue Henson, those who are battling the flu, those who have lost loved ones and, as always, each other.
Enville sends out Happy Birthday wishes to Ken Durbin and Danny Bishop on March 14, Victoria Swafford on March 17 and Julie Ooley and Kelly Swafford on March 18. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
