Hello from Enville! I hope everyone had a great week.
Welcome July and our Independence Day holiday. It is, of course, on Saturday, July 4. Independence Day is a federal holiday commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence, drafted by Thomas Jefferson, by delegates of the original 13 colonies on July 4, 1776. While July 4th celebrations date back to the 18th century, it only became a federal holiday in 1941. From 1776 to the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence. There will be many folks celebrating the Fourth this weekend – camping, boating and some are vacationing. Whatever you will be doing, I pray you all have a safe and fun weekend. Remember, kids, to have adult supervision when shooting fireworks. They are fun and very pretty, but they can be dangerous also.
We are so happy that the Chester County High School Class of 2020 had their graduation ceremony on Monday night. It was long awaited, and this will be a year they will not forget. We wish each and every one of you a bright future and a blessed life!
Each year, the Enville Community Club presents a scholarship to a deserving senior in our area. This year, it was presented to Christopher Canaday, son of Lynn and Sarah Canaday of Enville. Christopher plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. We are very proud of your accomplishments and wish you the best for your future!
Happy birthday wishes go to Jeff Finley on July 4, Mike Pugh on July 5, Nish Herndon and Alice Geigan on July 6 and Shane Harwell on July 8. Happy anniversary to Thomas and Pattie Gilham on July 3. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Continue prayers for Jean Crowell, Lisa Bishop, Agnes Smith, Linda Phillips, Jack and Tera O’Neal, Charlie Kent, Mary Lee Guyon, Niecie Pearson, Christy Phillips, Deb Finley, Casey Pratt, Harold and Janice Maness, Florence Stublaski, Doris Weeks, Jo Marie Holmes, Genny Sue Martin, Ann Vanhoose, Dennis Harwell, Neal Brewer, Tim Harris, Steve Denbow, Kristen Daniel and family, our military, firefighters, first responders, law enforcement and healthcare workers, those who have lost loved ones and, as always, each other.
