Hello from Enville! I hope everyone had a great week. The temperatures are dipping down and going even lower the last part of the week, and I have heard the word snow tossed around. I can not say I really want snow, but if we do get some, I hope we get enough to shut down more than just the schools, so no one has to be out driving, trying to get to work. We should only be out playing, having snowball fights and building snowmen. Our granddaughter, Reece, got a sled for Christmas, and I know she wants to use it. The ole groundhog saw his shadow, so six more week of winter!
Valentine’s Day is Sunday, Feb. 14, so be sure to show the ones you love how special they are with cards, candy, dipped strawberries, a visit or a phone call. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
Chester County Schools will be out this Friday for parent/teacher
conferences and Monday for Presidents’ Day. Presidents’ Day is a federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February that recognizes all U.S. presidents. It was originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington but was moved in 1971 as part of Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends. Many government buildings and schools and the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ are all closed on this holiday.
Ash Wednesday is on Feb. 17. It is a Christian holy day of prayer and fasting. Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, the six weeks of penitence before Easter. Some churches have an Ash Wednesday service.
Please pray for Jean Crowell, Deb Finley, Casey Pratt, Florence Stublaski, Doris Weeks, Jo Marie Holmes, Jack and Tera O’Neal, Harold and Janice Maness, Mary Lee Guyon, Janice and Danny Keen, Agnes Smith, Lisa Bishop, Dean Hutcherson, Amanda Johnson, Linda and Robert Johnson, Inez Cash, Genny Sue Martin, Loretta Plunk, Jimmy Robertson, Edward Jones, Tim Harris, Wayne Bethune, those who have lost loved ones, those affected by COVID and other illnesses, their caretakers, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement and healthcare workers, the military, our country and, as always, each other.
Happy birthday wishes go to Mildred Goodwin on Feb. 12, Michael Frank on Feb. 14, Randi Baxter on Feb. 17 and Tony Murphy on Feb. 18. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
