Greetings to the People of Chester County everywhere. For this is a new week and new year, and I give thanks to the Lord for being with you in your home, on your job or wherever you find time to read the paper. It is just great to be part of your life. For this is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it! I hope you are enjoying the New Year. How was your week? I hope and pray it was a great one. If your week was not good for whatever reason, just remember you have the power to turn it around and make it better. Some of you wanted to know why I did not have my article in the paper. The reason why is because I was down with COVID the first two weeks, but I was healed! To God be the Glory! It felt like the hair on my head hurt! I give God the praise and the Glory! I am still here with you! After COVID, I took some time out of my busy schedule to spend time with my family. The whole family, Maria and her husband K. C. from Washington, D.C.; Dannette and her husband Josh from Jackson; Frank, Jr. and his wife Raffia from Savannah, Ga.; James my brother-in-love from Houston, Texas; LaWanna from Memphis; LaDerrick from Henderson; Raffia’s mother T.T. and her brother Phillip from Germany; and last but not least our youngest grandson little Frank. The whole family met in Orlando, Fla. We had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas and just being together as a family! As some of you will remember last year on Dec. 25, I was with our baby daughter LaWanna in the hospital. On Dec. 26, our grandson was born, so we had a big BIRTHDAY celebration for both of them. God is so good! And you know what? It felt great not to stress, hurry to meet deadlines, always moving in the fast lane and not worrying about anything. We took so many pictures and had so much FUN!
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: ‘What are you doing for others?’” My question is what are we doing with our family? If you can not think of anything, it is time to get busy today! Family time is so important!
Come one! Come all! The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. program is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at the Henderson City Hall. 121 Crook Ave, Henderson, TN 38340. The speaker will be Reverend Gene Bowden, Mayor of Whiteville. This is not just a program for Black/African American people. This is a program for all people! I personally invite you to come and enjoy the program. Hope to see you there my friends. So come out and help celebrate a great cause on Jan. 15.
The city of Henderson is offering our deepest condolences to the White, Flowers and Bass family. We are sadden to hear about Mr. Arthur Lee White, the husband of Mrs. Mae (Bass) White; Mr. Marles Flower, Jr., the son of Pastor Marles Flowers, Sr.; and my dear sweet auntie Mrs. Betty Bass William, the sister of my mother Mrs. Annie Clay Brown. Please keep the family in your prayers. For we know the Lord does not make mistakes.
Happy belated Wedding Anniversary to Apostle Frank and Gloria Holiday on Jan 2. Married for 47 years. God is good. Like I always say, “Keep the HONEY in the moon!” Happy birthday to DesShone Dniya Ingram Jan. 9. Happy Birthday to a very special man that lives here in Henderson; that man is John Cawthon on Jan. 14. Happy birthday to a beautiful young lady. She is the daughter of Sylvia Brown Flower, the wife of Calvin Barham and the mother of Carmen and Justin – Shonterria Barham. She celebrated her birthday on Jan. 6. We pray everyone will be blessed and have many more birthdays!
On our prayer list this week – remember to pray for our children, our teachers and our families, for the sick and shut in, for families that have lost loved ones and especially for our men and women that are serving our country.
