Hello to the people of Chester County everywhere. It is good to be with you today. The Lord has allowed us to be together one more time.
This weekend was so beautiful. Thank you, Lord, for the sunshine and the liquid sunshine you gave us; we needed it. As I was driving down the road, I thought about how good the Lord is to the people. He looks beyond our faults and sees our needs. I am so glad to know that if I/we trust in Him he will never leave or forsake us – no matter how hard it gets. Because this is the day the Lord has made, we are going to rejoice and be glad in it!
Our condolences go out to the family of Mrs. Ethel Mae Burton. The city is so sorry for your loss. We will remember Ms. Ethel and how much she loved you, the community and the rest of your family. She will be missed but not forgotten.
The next time you read this article, it will be a new month. May will be here soon. It is the third and last month of the season of spring. The birthstone of May is the emerald, which symbolizes success and love. In May, nicer weather brings people out to participate in walkathons and events that focus on healthy living. It is also the time that moms around the world get showered with love for Mother’s Day. Another favorite United States celebration in May is Memorial Day, the national holiday that is also known as the unofficial start to summer. It is also the time when so many of our students would be preparing for one of the major milestones in their lives. The city would like to give a shout out to the Class of 2020, which may never get to graduate in front of family and friends because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The city wants to let you know we are so proud of you, and it does not stop here. Take this time and use it for the future. I would love to give a shout out to someone you know who is graduating this year. Just email me at gloria_holiday@msn.com. Subject will be SHOUT OUT. Please tell me about the person graduating this year. The shout out will be from you, so please include your name.
Let us not forget to recognize our essential workers doctors, nurses and first responders. Thank them for their service. This is a range of people we are depending on to keep our economy going during the pandemic and to take care of us and our loved ones – the fast food workers, social workers, cleaners, retail associates, transit workers, home health aides and even those who provide support for victims of domestic violence. They are often not highly paid individuals, and they are risking their lives. So again, the City of Henderson says “THANK YOU”!
The Chester County Head Start staff would like to say, “Thank You,” to all of the parents that allow their child/children to attend Head Start. It was a great year, and we appreciate you and the family. Head Start is now taking applications by phone for three- and four-year old children. Call Lisa Brantley at 731-614-1575 or Shana Taylor at 731-549-0028. Please give them a call.
The city would like to say Happy Birthday to a dear friend, Juanita Hall, 5/2. Happy Birthday to Desytn Goodson, 5/4. He is the son of Eboni Burton and Dortiez Genesy.
The city would like to take this time to wish all of our loved ones in the Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center, who had a birthday this week a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
On the prayer list this week: OUR UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your families, birthdays, anniversaries, announcements or things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 989-1907 and leave your message, or you may email me at gloria__holiday@msn.com.
HAVE A GREAT and SAFE DAY!
