Hello to everyone! Greetings from the City. For this is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. What about you? I am so glad to be an American and to have the freedom we have. Just to say, “Thank you, Lord,” is a blessing.
Thank you, Lord, for the new month of June. Can you believe we are in our sixth month of 2020? WOW! June has some very important dates. Did you know that June is National Candy Month, National Dairy Month and National Iced Tea Month? On June 1, 1796, Tennessee, also known as The Volunteer State, became the 16th state of the United States. June 5 is World Environment Day, June 20 is the first day of summer and June 21 is Father’s Day.
Father’s Day is on the third Sunday of June. It celebrates the contributions that fathers and father figures make for their children’s lives. So many times, dads do not get the same recognition as moms. I do understand; however, we have a lot of great fathers and father figures taking care of children and the family. Start planning something special for Father’s Day now. Remember the Bible says in Ephesians 6:2-3, “Honour thy father and mother which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” I miss my Daddy and Mother so much like many of you do. So for those of you who have your parents above the earth, do all you can for them.
Well, so much has happened since the last time we were together. Last week, our oldest daughter Maria from Washington D.C. got married on 5/25/2020 at 5:25 p.m. on top of a mountain in Gatlinburg. It was just beautiful. Her family and his family were there along with friends. The city would like to say congratulations to Kamau and Maria. We pray you will have many happy years together.
Our condolences go out to the Croom family. Another pioneer has gone home. Mr. Cecil Croom will always be remembered here in Chester County and in so many other counties and states. The Cool Springs Baptist Church Pastor James Vincent did a wonderful going home service for Mr. Croom. To his wife Reba, the city of Henderson is praying for your strength.
The City of Henderson would like to say Happy Belated Birthday to a beautiful and sweet lady; she celebrated her 83rd birthday on March 27. Can you believe it? She does not look it. Mrs. Neitha Ross, we hope you had a wonderful day on your birthday and pray that the Lord will contain you in your health and bless you with many more birthdays!
Happy birthday to Susan Presson, June 3; Letitia Roberson, June 2; Quincy Jones, June 7; Charles Howard, June 9; and Ms. Olivia Croom, June 9. May the Lord bless all of you with many more.
Last but not least, our U.S.A. needs much prayer, so continue to pray for its citizens. Also, pray for the men and women who are serving our country, the incarcerated and the bereaved families everywhere. As I leave you, please be safe and stay protected. Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
