Hello to everyone! I hope you had a wonderful week. The first thing I would like to do is give thanks to the Lord for another week. Psalms 107:1 – “O give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good: for His mercy endureth forever.” Psalms 118:24 – “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” It is a blessing to be a part of your life one more time. You know our hometown newspaper may not be the Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today or The Jackson Sun, but it is ours, and we are thankful for it. It is our hometown newspaper that keeps us notified about what is happening in the surrounding area. Keep up the great work because we need you, Chester County Independent!
This week, I am going back three months. There was a 50th wedding anniversary I heard about that took place on May 1. Some may be reading this and asking, “Why is she going back three month?” Yes, I could have waited to May 1, 2021, but who knows where we will be in 2021? Only the Lord knows that! On May 1, 1970, this loving couple said their wedding vows – “I, Melvin, take you, Eloise, to be my Wife/I, Eloise, take you, Melvin, to be my Husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.” Fifty years of marriage is called a “Golden Wedding Anniversary.” Pastor Melvin White and First Lady Eloise White, the city of Henderson want to say thank you for setting the example that married couples can live up to their marriage vows. I know you all had a wonderful and blessed celebration on your day because you had each other. Like I always say, “Keep the honey in the moon!”
On Tuesday of last week, I talked with our good friend Mr. Jimmy Ruth; he was doing well. He said that he was just lonely and wanted me to ask his friends here in Henderson to give him a call. His number is 901-288-3358. I always enjoy talking to my friend.
The family of Mrs. Betty Bass Williams would like to say thank you to everyone that prayed for her. She is in recovery and is doing so much better. Mrs. Betty is the baby sister to Mrs. Annie Clay Bass Brown.
The City would like to say happy birthday to Bianca Thomas on 8/20, Dwain Seaton on 8/23, Kim Scott on 8/25 and James Prather on 8/31. May the Lord bless you with many more birthdays.
Let us continue to pray for the USA! Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your families, birthdays, anniversaries, announcements or things happening in the City, I need to hear from you; call me at 989-1907/608-6132 and leave your message.
