Hello to everyone!
For this is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it! I am so glad to be back with you. It has been a long time, but I am back now! Well, the last time we were together it was in August. I hope that your families are all doing well.
Labor Day weekend has come and gone. If you had anyone to come to visit from out of town this year, I pray all of them returned back home safely. I do not know how many families had their yearly family reunions this year. You know how I feel about families. The family is very important! I know most of us love our family and friends. I often think about all of my military brothers and sisters who are in the National Guard and on activity duty serving our country so we can enjoy life as such.
I think about all of the families that have lost a loved one because of COVID-19 as well as the fires that have burned thousands of homes. Many have lost everything, and some have even died. I think about all of the hate that is still in the world. Take some time out and pray for all of the families that are going through something in their life.
The end of last week was 9/11. Most who were around at the time remember where they were and what they were doing on Sept. 11, 2001 when terrorists attacked New York City and Washington, D.C., with hijacked commercial airliners. Last Friday marked 19 years when terrorists attacked America, killing everyone aboard the planes and thousands of other innocent people on the ground. I will always acknowledge 9/11. I hope you took time out of your busy schedule to remember those who died, including police and firefighter personnel who heroically sacrificed their lives while trying to help the innocent victims. I hope you had your American Flag flying high for the 2,996 people who died at the hands of terrorists as well as all others who made the ultimate sacrifice while fighting the war on terrorism since then. I hope as long as we are alive that we will not forget about those families that lost a loved one on that day. Keep the families up in prayer. Let us keep HOPE alive for our America.
Did you know Sunday, Sept. 13, was Grandparents Day? The origin of National Grandparents Day can be traced back to 1973 when Marian Lucille Herndon McQuade, a West Virginia homemaker, campaigned for a national holiday to honor grandparents and make sure that they are not left alone and forgotten. To all of the Grandmothers and Grandfathers, happy belated Grandparents Day!
The city would like to give a happy birthday shout out to Mrs. Linda (Peewee) Curry on Sept. 25. Also, she and her husband will be celebrating their wedding anniversary this week. Thirty plus years!! Congratulations. Always remember to keep the honey in the moon.
On the birthday list: my son Captain Frank M. Holiday, Jr. 9/16; my sister Sylvia Flowers 9/19; Janet Beaver, 9/27; and Angenal Huddleston, 9/28. May the Lord keep on blessing all of you with many more!
On the prayer list: our schools, children and the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
