Hello to my family and friends. It is a new week, a new day, and it is always a blessing to be with you! This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Well, Valentine’s Day is Sunday, Feb. 14, just in case you forgot; hope you will not end up in the “dog house” this year. Pray you will have a very happy loving day!
Speaking of a loving day, there is a couple in the City of Henderson who will be celebrating their 56th wedding anniversary! Mr. John and Lillia Cawthon will celebrate on Monday, Feb. 22. If you know this loving couple, it is a great time to show your love toward them. For my husband and I, it is a blessing to know the loving couple. We pray the Lord blesses them with many more years together. The City of Henderson says congratulations and happy anniversary.
On Feb. 20, Mr. Bill Overway will celebrate his 84th birthday. Mr. Bill, thank you and your wife for all of the hard work you have done down through the years. I can remember when you worked at the drugstore down town at Piggly Wiggly, and it seems like it was only yesterday when you were the Policy Council Officer for Head Start when Alex was a student there. You did such an awesome job then and still are by raising your grandson. Thank you for being the man of God that you are. You have been through a lot with your health, but the Lord has blessed you to celebrate another year! So, enjoy your birthday, and we pray you will see many more!
Dr. Woods, thank you for the superior, excellent article on the Black History Theme, “The Black Family: Representation, Identity and Diversity.” I enjoyed reading your article. It was very enlightening, and oh, yes! How I do remember Professor Saunders, Professor Trice and so many others who broke down some of the racial barriers in Henderson. Thank you, Dr. Saunders, for following in your father’s footsteps and setting an example for others to follow. Looking forward to the next edition on “BLACK HISTORY.”
The 2021 Freed-Hardeman University Lectureship did not happen this year because of COVID-19; however, the pandemic did not stop the Lectureship from going forward. They went virtual. To all the people who would have visited the City of Henderson for Lectureship, hopefully, we will have you back in the City of Henderson next year.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Carolyn Kendall, Feb. 11. She is the Foster Grandparent at Hardin County Head Start. The city would like to take this time to wish all of our loved ones in the nursing home who had a birthday this week a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
On the prayer list this week: THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your families, birthdays, anniversaries, announcements or things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 989-1907 and leave your message, or you may email me at gloria__holiday@msn.com.
