Hello to my family and friends. For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! I hope those who were on Spring Break had a safe one and stayed COVID free! This is a new week and a new month, another month for new beginnings, new thoughts and an opportunity to do things better, but most of all, it is a blessing to be with you on this week.
April is the time when the cuckoo and swallow arrive to let us know that spring is in the air. I am ready for the birds to start singing. April 1 is known as April Fools’ Day. It is celebrated every year on the first day of April by playing practical jokes and spreading hoaxes. The jokes and their victims are called April fools. If you play a joke on your family or friends, please make sure that it is safe and that no one will get hurt. It is enough hurt and pain going on in the world now.
April 2021 is Child Abuse Prevention Month. The City of Henderson would like to take this time to let the Carl Perkins Center here in Chester County and surrounding counties know how much we appreciate the hard work it does for the children and families for the prevention of child abuse. Thank you so much!
The city is sending condolence to the Ross family. I was so sad when I heard about Mr. Keith Ross’s death. I can remember Mr. Keith when he would come to the house when I was a child. Mr. Keith and my father (Mr. Parnell Brown) would have so much fun just by visiting and talking with each other. Now both of them are no longer with us, but they will live on in our hearts and memories. We are praying for the Ross family.
I would like to say, “Thank you, Pastor Frank Holiday Sr.,” for taking your wife away from all of the hustle and bustle of life. His wife got some rest while she was on Spring Break! His wife said, “It was nice to do nothing!” She also said if retirement is going to be like that, she is ready! Husbands do something nice for your wife! (no reason needed)
Parents, get ready! Baseball and softball are in the air and so is soccer. You know I enjoy watching these young athletes play. Some of the players I can remember when they started out in Dixie Youth, and now they are in high school and getting ready to graduate in May! Time goes by so fast, so let’s enjoy the moment.
For your information all West Tennessee counties are open for COVID vaccines for ALL adults 18 and over. Anyone who wishes to book an appointment can do so at COVID19.tn.gov or 866-442-5301.
I talked with Mr. Jimmy Ruth the other day. He sounded well. He wanted me tell everyone that he said hello and that he misses you all. He also has a birthday coming in April. We had a nice conversation.
The city would like to say Happy Birthday to Desmond Ingram, Sr. and Jonathan Graham on March 31. For the month of April, happy birthday Larry Day April 2, Brooke Emerson on April 4 and Amy Edwards is on April 9. May the Lord bless all of you on your special day!
Keep our United States in your prayers. Remember to pray for the sick and shut in, our children, teachers and families, the men and women who are serving our country and the incarcerated.
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your families, birthdays, anniversaries, announcements or things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 608-6132 and leave your message, or you may email me at gloria__holiday@msn.com.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
