Greetings to the People of Chester County everywhere! For this is a new week and in a few days, we will have a new year! For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas in a wonderful warm home with your family, enjoying the family traditions and having a family that loves you.
I am truly blessed to have had parents like the late Mr. Parnell and Annie Clay Brown that taught us the importance of family and family values. As long as I have been in the Brown-Bass family on Christmas day, mother and grandmother would always have a Christmas breakfast for all the families. I can remember those big, fluffy biscuits, ham, eggs, rice with butter and sugar, home fried potatoes with onion and the traditional government cheese back in the day that mother would serve only on Christmas morning. Mother explained to use why we always have cheese on Christmas morning with our breakfast. She told us that her mother would get cheese only a certain time of the year, and it was very special, and our grandmother would save the cheese to serve only on Christmas morning.
Now, five generations later, the tradition is still being honored! Our children understand why, and their children understand why! On Christmas day, the family was at mother’s and dad’s home where we came together and celebrated Christmas with our family and friends. Yes, we had our traditional cheese; no, it was not government cheese. Yes, we are blessed to go to the store and purchase any type of cheese our heart desires at any time. Yes, it is in our hearts to continue the tradition every year as long as we live and to remember that our ancestors did not have much, but what little they did have they wanted to use it on a Special Day. Christmas was the day! If you have a family tradition and do not mind sharing it, please send it to me.
For all who know how to pray and have faith to believe in our Lord, please pray for my daughter LaWanna’s health. As of Monday, she was at Jackson General, and I was there with her. We still had a blessed time celebrating the reason for the season, our Savior was born! Hopefully, we will be home by the time you are reading this.
On Jan. 2 there is a couple that will celebrate their 46th year Wedding Anniversary. This couple met 47 years ago in Oceanside California and knew it was love at first sight. They have three beautiful daughters and one handsome son. I am so proud to be the wife of this wonderful man. Yes, we are keeping the HONEY IN THE MOON! We pray the Lord will bless us to be together for many more years.
