Greetings from Hickory Corner!
The weather was beautiful last Saturday for our Homecoming at the HCC Center. It sure was nice to get together. President Nelson Weaver, Donnie Patterson and Philip Cranford would like to thank all who came out and helped make our day successful.
Thank you to all who donated cakes, desserts and silent auction items. So many helped in so many ways. I heard many say how good the barbeque chicken tasted. The last plate of barbeque chicken was sold to Ellna Patterson Roland, and she said it made a delicious supper.
Let us not forget the guys that brought their antique tractors to display. Thank you, Mike Lott and Bill Morrison. Last but not least, a special thank you to the talented and generous Blake Hopper who took time out of his day to entertain us with his banjo playing.
Our next meeting at the HCC Center will be scheduled for some time in May. More details will be coming later.
God does answer our prayers. It may take awhile; just hang in there. He knows all our needs and knows who to send to help. I was hoping that I could get the big tree limb that fell in my front yard cleaned up before my son Terry came this week. Well, lo and behold, Phyllis Vandiver and her husband came on Saturday and cut up the tree limb. It was a win, win for both of us. I got my yard cleaned up, and they took home some firewood. I appreciate it, so thank you, Vandivers!
Well April is just about over, and as the saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers.” Well, we have had plenty of rain this month, so I am looking forward to seeing all the colorful flowers next month!
“Hello May, open our eyes to beauty of the world.” – unknown
Remember in prayer Arlin Porter, Richy Butler, Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Peggy Lard, William and Eddie Luttrell and Donna Lynch. Continue to pray for each other, our country and our world. If you would like to add or remove a name from the prayer list, please call me.
Our community extends sympathy to the family of Ann Porter Bennett. Ann was a sweet lady who grew up here and lived in our community. She was also a member of our HCC Center. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.
If you would like to rent the HCC Center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.
I need all of your support for this article. Please call me with tidbits and news at 989-3315.
