Greetings from Hickory Corner!
I am writing this on Monday and what a beautiful day it has been. It is going to get hot in the next few days.
JoAnn Clayton celebrated her birthday at her home this past Sunday with over 60 family members attending. The weather was beautiful, so they were able to celebrate outside. I live across the road from JoAnn, and I enjoyed watching the little ones running and playing in the yard. She is blessed with a wonderful family.
The meeting at the HCC Center will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 26. We are always looking for new members. If you would like to attend the meeting and learn more about our center, you are welcome to join us.
I want to share my devotion I read today. It is wonderful advice: “When things don’t go as you would like, accept the situation immediately. If you indulge in feelings of regret, they can easily spill over the line in resentment. Remember that I am sovereign over your circumstances, and humble yourself under my mighty hand. Rejoice in what I am doing in your life even though it is beyond your understanding. I am the way, the Truth and the Life. In Me you have everything you need both for this life and the life yet to come. Don’t let the impact of the world shatter your thinking or draw you away from focusing on Me. The ultimate challenge is to keep fixing your eyes on me. No matter what is going on around you, when I am central to you in your thinking you are able to view circumstances from my perspective.” (I Peter 5:5-6 and John 14:6) from Jesus Calling by Sarah Young
Remember in prayer Arlin Porter, Richy Butler, Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Peggy Lard, William and Eddie Luttrell and Donna Lynch. Continue to pray for each other, our country and our world. If you would like to add or remove a name from the prayer list, please call me.
The community extends sympathy to the family of Georgia Phillips. I first met Georgia at the old bowling center off Hollywood in Jackson. Georgia and I did not bowl on the same team, but we bowled on the same senior league, and she became my bowling friend. We both enjoyed many years on bowling leagues. Also, Georgia competed in the Southwest District Senior Games. She liked to stay active. Georgia will be missed by her family and friends.
If you would like to rent the HCC Center for your special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.
I need all of your support for this article. Please call me with tidbits and news at 989-3315.
Make it a great week!
