Greetings from Hickory Corner!
The old year 2022 is now gone. Wouldn’t it be great if the COVID went with it? We welcome the new year and pray that 2023 will be great for America. Unfortunately, the infectious disease experts predict new variants will be increasing. The flu season is upon us, too, and I know there have been many with the flu as well as colds. I have been wearing my mask when out in crowds, hoping I can stay healthy. Folks, try to stay safe and well.
Our community congratulates Mike Clayton on a fantastic career and wish him the best on his retirement from First Farmers Co-op after working there for 47 years. Mike was born and raised in the Hickory Corner Community. Mike, we wish you a long, healthy and happy retirement!
Happy birthday wishes go out to those celebrating January birthdays: Faye Morrison (Jan. 14), Anita Wade (Jan. 15), Barbara Smith Patterson (Jan. 16), Joe Holmes (Jan. 20), Betty A. Cooper (Jan. 21) and John Cranford (Jan. 24). Here is a big wish for all of you that your day is special and blessed. For those that would like to have their birthday or anniversary mentioned in our news, please call me with your special dates. January’s birthstone is a beautiful deep red garnet, which promotes balance and peace. The January flowers are the Carnation and Snowdrop. If you would like to add your name to our birthday list, please call me.
Did you know that family and fans of Elvis Presley gathered on the lawn of Graceland on Jan. 8 to celebrate the King of Rock’s 88th birthday? For me, I do not think there will ever be anyone as popular as Elvis (1935-1977).
Choosing a name for your child can be hard. Perhaps your child is named after a special relative or maybe you choose a name based on popularity. According to babycenter.com, the most popular baby names for 2022 for girls were Olivia, Emma, Amelia, Ava and Sophia. Notice that they all end in “A.” The most popular for boys were Liam, Noah, Oliver, Elijah and Mateo. Did you know that Liam has been the most popular boy name the last two years.
Remember in prayer Richy Butler, Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Ann Morrison, Bonice Martin, Peggy Whitman, Peggy Lard, William and Eddie Luttrell and Donna Lynch. Continue to pray for each other, our country and our world. If you would like to add or remove a name from our prayer list, please call me.
If you would like to rent the HCC Center for a special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159. I could really use your support for this article. Please call me with tidbits and news at 989-3315. You can share your vacations, birthday, anniversaries and much more. I would love to hear from you.
Make it a great week!
