Reminder: The meeting at the HCC center will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27. All members are encouraged to attend. We will be discussing upcoming events and always welcome new ideas and helpers.
It is almost time to say goodbye to February, as it is a short month with only 29 days. If you look around, you can see that spring is on its way. Daffodils are in bloom, the birds have returned to the feeders, bradford pear trees are budding and the grass is getting greener. Oh, happy day! Good news as the upcoming month brings Daylight Savings Times (March 8), St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) and Spring (March 19). Welcome, March!
Happy belated birthday wishes to Peggy Lard who celebrated her birthday with daughters, Teresa, Tammy and Deonna; her sister, JoAnn Clayton; and JoAnn’s daughters Patricia, Pam, and Kim. They enjoyed a trip to Corinth for lunch and shopping. Now that is my kind of birthday celebration.
Are you a keeper? Well, I have kept some things packed away neatly for many years. I have some of my three children’s baby clothes packed away in a box on the top shelf in one of my closets. While daughter Cindy and Terry’s wife Jo Ellen were visiting, I decided to show Cindy a few clothes I had saved of hers. She could not believe that I had them all these years. Of course, there was a little pink dress in the box. Then we looked in Greg and Terry’s box. In their box was Greg’s little sandals and outfit that he wore on Decoration Day at Cave’s Springs in 1954. There was Terry’s shoes and little romper that he wore on his first Easter. When I packed them away many years ago, I just could not part with them. Of course, I realize that what is happening right now is more important. It has been years since my little boys and baby girl wore these items, but yet I can not let go. So I closed the box, retied the ribbon and put them back on the top closet shelf. Are you a keeper? I would love to hear from you and find out what you have packed away from years ago that you just can not part with. Call me!
